Round 5 of 2019 Reading Challenges

Eleven Books Read!!!
This is so cool.

❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥

Round 4 Wrap Up

In the fourth round of rolls, I completed 3 squares and the first mystery challenge for Romanceopoly. It took me a while but that's because I read a whole bunch of books back to back and forgot about the Romanceopoly wrap up.

❥---❥---❥

With Him
  • I completed one of the LGBT Lane squares in Romanceopoly.
  • Read A book by two female authors for the PopSugar Reading Challenge.
  • And #10 - About a women athlete for the Reading Women challenge.

With Persuasion
  • I completed the Taxi square in Romanceopoly.
  • And doesn't really go for any of the challenges for the PopSugar Reding Challenge.
  • And doesn't really go for any of the challenges for Reading Women.

With Dirty Little Secret

  • I completed the Library square in Romanceopoly.
  • And doesn't really go for any of the challenges for the PopSugar Reding Challenge.
  • And doesn't go for any of the Reading Women challenges.

With Jane Eyre

  • I completed the Mystery #1 square in Romanceopoly.
  • And doesn't really go for any of the challenges for the PopSugar Reading Challenge.
  • And #20 - Historical Fiction book for the Reading Women challenge.

This round was not all that productive with the challenges. Since the books I picked didn't contribute to the challenges that much. But I'm thinking about doing a separate post week I tick off more of the challenges based on books that I've read outside of my Romanceopoly picks since they count too.

❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥

This Round

This is the round that took me so long to finish. Mostly because I took a mental break from everything. I didn't blog or post anything on Instagram for a long time. I just wasn't feeling it. I didn't even read.

But In this week I read the books and decided to close this round despite not having read two out of the five squares I rolled for.

So here's the thing I fully accepted that I sometimes either don't want to read a specific book for no reason, or I just don't have the book and can't access it. I've accepted it. So I'm just gonna read books I can get to. That's it.
What's weird is that I should have accepted that earlier. But what can ya do?

Listen to Me by Kristen Proby
Us by Sarina Bowen and Elle Kennedy
Hungry for More by Alexa Riley
NotDoingThis
A Dog's Way Home by W. Bruce Cameron

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Image result for Romanceopoly

I went ahead and rolled five times this round because I had a feeling that I wouldn't be able to do another round in a while.
And for my first roll, I landed on Subway (Downtown). The second one as Freedom Friars.
The third round was Bad Boy Circus but I already did that one so I went for the one next to it, Erotic Eaves. The fourth one landed me on the Magic Row square. The last one went to Heartbreak Hospital.

Like last time I decided to opt out of two of the squares. So I didn't do Subway and Magic Row.
Subway because I couldn't get Listen to Me and Magic Row because I couldn't find a book I wanted to read for this. I also don't read a lot of paranormal books.

The books I will read are:
Subway > Liste to Me
Freedom Friars > Us
Erotic Eaves > Hungry for More
Magic Row > Nothing
Heartbreak Hospital > A Dog's Way Home

---------------------------------------------------------

PopSugar.
For this challenge, A Dog's Way home can go for A book becoming a movie in 2019. And I think that Us and Hungry for More can go for A book told from multiple character POV.

---------------------------------------------------------

Reading Woman
None of the books from this round qualified for any of the challenges but that's okay I don't think I'll do all of the challenges from this one.

That's all I have for this but I'm going to put this reminder up. I am posting my rolls in Instagram and will also include photos that have to do with Romanceopoly or the other challenges.

Romanceopoly's Women's Avenue | Recommendations

.

So this year I've been participating in more reading challenges than before. And one of the problems I've come across is the lack of recommendations for some of the challenges.

What I mean by that is that there are some challenges where I'm stuck standing in front of my bookshelves like the thinking man trying to somehow figure out what book to read for certain categories.
For the most part, Romanceopoly does have a ton of Recommendations. They even have recommendations from each of the hosts. But they are also books I do not own or find all that interesting at the moment. We have different taste in books too. So that doesn't help. But for the other challenges I'm doing I end up getting stuck -like I said.

So I'm going to try and make a list of 5 or more books that can help other people who are stuck like me.  Of course, I'm only doing this for the categories I've already done so far. And hopefully, this ends up actually being helpful.

And the first recommendations list I'm going to do is for the Women's Avenue square in Romanceopoly. Which is to read women's fiction novels. For this, I didn't have that many books I had read which can qualify so it's just going to be a list of 4 books. But in the end, I will include an extra that I haven't read but are on my tbr list on Goodreads. So a book I would totally read. Just so I have an overall list of 5 books.

-----------------------------------------------------

Me Before You by Jojo Moyes
Goodreads

If I'm being honest, I only read this because I wanted to see the movie. But woah, was I wrong. I not only loved the book and the characters but I cried like such a baby.
Of course, the movie was great and I cried a bunch when I saw it too but the book still holds a spot in my heart.

The Hurricane Sisters by Dorothea Benton Frank
Goodreads

I actually read this book after Hurricane Maria swept by Puerto Rico. When I needed to read in order to escape and not freak out. And read it in one day.
The family aspect of this is beautiful and too real. This family doesn't get along but when it counts they join together and help each other. And the twist it has fits the story perfectly.

Landline by Rainbow Rowell
Goodreads

Landline was one of the first books I read on my reading journey. And it was such a good way to start it all. It was so good and I even cried a few times. It surely captured my heart and became one of the books that made me love romance books as much as I love romantic movies.

These two books by Anita Hughes.

Rome in Love by Annita Hughes

Santorini Sunset by Anita Hughes

Both of these books by her are so good. Both very different but carry great stories with female leads. Rome in love is from the point of view of a famous actress who might be falling for a stranger she met on the streets of Rome. And Santorini Sunset is about a bride to be who's going to be married to a wealthy elite. But there will be something that will get in the way of that.

Austenland by Shannon Hale
Goodreads

I might have just added this to my tbr because I saw the movie a long time ago and fell in love with it but I have no idea how I'll get my hands on it. It's an older book so it's not gonna be super easy to find. So I'll have to keep searching from time to time on BookOutlet till it pops out.

Round 4 of 2019 Reading Challenges

Seven Books Read!!!
This is going so well.

❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥

Round 3 Wrap Up

In my third round of rolls, I managed to complete three squares. It took me so long because I got distracted with nothing and then I participated in Contemporaryathon. So I had to take a break from Romanceopoly to do that. After the readathon ended I read my last book, First Garve on the Right, and was done with this round.

❥---❥---❥

With Girl Runner
  • I completed one of the Library squares in Romanceopoly.
  • Read A book with a two-word title for the PopSugar Reading Challenge.
  • And  #10 - About a women athlete for the Reading Women challenge.

With First Grave on the Right

    • I completed the Dungeon square in Romanceopoly.
    • Read A book with an item of clothing or accessory on the cover for the PopSugar Reading Challenge.
    • And doesn't really go for any of the challenges for Reading Women.

    With Agent of Chaos

    • I completed the Alien Avenue square in Romanceopoly.
    • And doesn't really go for any of the challenges for the PopSugar Reding Challenge.
    • And #1 - Mystery/Thriller by a WOC  for the Reding Women challenge.

This round was very productive challenge wise. I got to tick off 8 challenges with just three books. So I'm feeling good and doing good.

    ❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥

    This Round

There is a lot of days between my last round and this one. I participated in Contemporaryathon and took a break from these readathons/reading challenges. And I did that so I could keep a clear head and not confuse the books. Or start to dislike the whole thing. I'm doing this because I'm having fun and liking the way that I'm reading all these books and it would be sad if I started to hate the whole thing.

So if you are doing this too I suggest you take breaks between rolls, or after reading one to three books.

I am also going to say that this is the first time I'm opting out f doing one of the squares. I know that's going against the rules but I just couldn't find a book to read for Warriors Way. No matter how many Goodreads lists I went trough none of the books called out to me. So I'm leaving this one for the end or just not going to do it.

    Image result for Romanceopoly

This time I rolled four times.
And my first roll landed me on LGBT Lane. The second on Warriors Way. The third time on Taxi. And the fourth roll landed me on a Library or Free Choice square.

I choose to opt out of Warriors Way. Making it the first square I am not going to do for this readathon.

I am also going to go ahead and do the Mystery #1 challenge since it ends in March.

The books I will read are:
LGBT Lane > Him by Sarina Bowen & Elle Kennedy
Taxi > Persuasion by Jane Austen
Library > Dirty Little Secret by Jennifer Ryan
Mystery #1 > Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    PopSugar.
For this challenge, Him can go for A book by two female authors. And I don't believe the others qualify for any of the challenges.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    Reading Woman
Persuasion and Jane Eyre can go for #20 - Historical Fiction book.
The others don't go with anything.

That's all I have for this but I'm going to put this reminder up. I am posting my rolls in Instagram and will also include photos that have to do with Romanceopoly or the other challenges.

Round 3 of 2019 Reading Challenges

    Four books read!!!
    Woohoo!

    ❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥

    Week 2 Wrap Up

In the second round of my reading challenges. I have rolled for Firestation and Cozy Corner. I picked The Firefighter Daddy and A High-End Finish.

I have finished reading The Firefighter Daddy and A High-End Finish.
Next week I will write a review of both books. But who knows. A lot has happened in these two past weeks and I think its best to take a break from reading to sort out my real life.

    With The Firefighter Daddy
    • I completed the Firestation square in Romanceopoly.
    • Read A book about a family for the PopSugar Reading Challenge.
    • And  #21 - Book Bought/Borrowed in 2019.

    With A High-End Finish

    • I completed the Cozy Corner square in Romanceopoly.
    • Read A book with a plant in the title or the cover for the PopSugar Reading Challenge.
    • And doesn't really go for any of the challenges.

I want to add that I do know that reading one book and saying it completes challenges in different reading challenges is cheating but that's just me reading one book that could go for multiple challenges and then the ones that don't I'll read a book for each. It's just so that I don't take on so much work and then stress out when I can't find one book for each challenge

    ❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥

    This Week

I skipped a week because I wasn't in the right place to read anything. So no Week 3, but now I'm going to keep going. And will change the title to Round instead of Week.

    Image result for Romanceopoly

Since I didn't do anything last week I decided to roll three times.
With my first roll, I landed on Alien Avenue. The second roll was Library or Free Choice.
The third roll landed me on Women's Avenue which meant I had to go to Dungeon since I had already been in Women's Avenue.

Out of the books I had to read for this round of rolls I had two out of the three books already on my shelves. Though for Library it was easy since I could have picked any book.

The books I will read are:
Alien Avenue > X-Files: Agent of Chaos by Kami Garcia
Library > Girl Runner by Carrie Snyder
Dungeon > First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones
    ---------------------------------------------------------

    PopSugar.
For this challenge, AoC doesn't really qualify for any of the challenges. And I think that Girl Runner can go with A book with a two-word title. FGR could also go with A book with an item of clothing or accessory on the cover.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    Reading Woman
Girl Runner goes with #10 - About a women athlete since the main character is a runner.
#1 - Mystery/Thriller by a WOC for X-Files: Agent of Chaos. Kami Garcia is latinx and I haven't read it yet but I think that this is going to be like the tv show which was always a mystery/thriller. I don't know about First Grave on the Right though.

That's all I have for this but I'm going to put this reminder up. I am posting my rolls in Instagram and will also include photos that have to do with Romanceopoly or the other challenges.

Week 2 of 2019 Reading Challenges

    I read 2 books already!!!
My first week was great. Not only did I read my two books in one sitting but they were both really good. Making me realize that I'm having a great start to this new year and that the challenges I'm participating in are going to be more fun than I thought.

    ❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥

    Week 1 Wrap Up

In my first week, I rolled twice. The first one landed me on Womens Avenue and the second and Boy Cirus.
I picked Rome in Love and The DUFF for those two squares.

I already wrote and posted the review for both those books and will include a link below the covers. And they were both great reads and I ended up giving them 4.5 out of 5 stars.

Rome in Love by Anita Hughes
    The DUFF by Kody Keplinger

    • With those two books, I completed two squares in Romanceopoly. Women's Avenue & Bad Boy Circus
    • Read A book with "love" in the title & A book with a two-word title for the PopSugar Reading Challenge.
    • And with Rome in Love, I did challenge #18 - Romance or Love Story.

    ❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥---❥

    Image result for Romanceopoly

    Romanceopoly
I rolled twice again and the first roll of the week ended up being the Firestation corner. The second roll was on Cozy Corner.

As I said in my Week 1 of the 2019 Reading Challenges I was participating in, I really wanted to accomplish all of this using books that I own. Books that are on my shelves in real life. But today I got Dungeon and Cozy Corner. Meaning I need to read a firefighter romance and cozy mysteries. And after scouring my shelves I was sad when I couldn't find anything that could possibly fit in those categories. So I have to borrow the books from my friend. I'm lucky because they do have books I could read that can qualify.

Leaving me with exactly a week to read The Firefighter Daddy for my firefighter romance and A High-End Finish for my cozy murder mystery.

The Firefighter Daddy by Margaret Daley
A High-End Finish by Kate Carlisle

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    PopSugar.
For this challenge, I'd say that both books qualify for A book with a plant in the title or the cover since TFD is the characters in a garden and AHEF has, what I think looks like, rose bushes and ivy. And TFD could also go for A book about a family.

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    Reading Woman
Both the books I picked this week could also go for #21 in this challenge.
    Book Bought/Borrowed in 2019.

That's all I have for this but I'm going to put this reminded up. I am posting my rolls in Instagram and will also include photos that have to do with Romanceopoly or the other challenges.

Week 1 of 2019 Reading Challenges

    Happy New Years!!!

As it is the first week of 2019 I'm gonna tell you about the books I picked out for the challenges I'm doing this year.

    ----------------

    Image result for Romanceopoly

    First Romanceopoly.
If you don't know about Romanceopoly this might sound weird. But I started off by rolling my dice. I'm doing my dice rolls over at my Instagram.

For the first roll, I landed on Women's Avenue and chose to read Rome in Love. It was among the books I got for Christmas and I really wanted to read it anyway but now I have a good excuse.

I also rolled a second time and landed on Bad Boy Circus ad picked The Duff. And I know it would have been better to choose a book that has a more Bad Boy type than Wesely Rush but I really wanted to pick books that I owned to make a dent in my TBR so I made the decision to read that book instead of getting a new book.

Rome in Love by Anita Hughes
    The DUFF by Kody Keplinger

    ---------------------------------------------------------

    The second challenge is PopSugar.
Taking into account that I'm most likely to read a book that qualifies for multiple challenges. I would say that Rome in Love goes in A book with "love" in the title.
And The DUFF would probably fit in A book with a two-word title. Right?

    ---------------------------------------------------------

Finally, for Reading Woman I chose Rome in Love to go for #18 - Romance or Love Story. Sadly The DUFF goes in none of the Challenges so I will skip this one for the moment.

    2019 Reading Challenges

    Hello, lovely booknerds.

Today is the first day of 2019 and as the first day, I'm going to tell you a little about the reading challenges I'm going to try and do for this new year.

I had so much fun participating in reading challenges and readathons last year so I'm trying to do that again. Sadly I don't know that many. Since my poor internet collection doesn't let me do much or anything. But I've found a few that might suit my tastes in books and are achievable taking into account the books that I do have in my collection.
