The Geography of Lost Things by Jessica Brody

In this romantic road trip story perfect for fans of Sarah Dessen and Morgan Matson, a teen girl discovers the value of ordinary objects while learning to forgive her absent father. A lot can happen on the road from lost to found…

Ali Collins doesn’t have room in her life for clutter or complications. So when her estranged father passes away and leaves her his only prized possession—a 1968 Firebird convertible—Ali knows she won’t keep it. Not when it reminds her too much of all her father’s unfulfilled promises. And especially not when a buyer three hundred miles up the Pacific coast is offering enough money for the car to save her childhood home from foreclosure. There’s only one problem, though. Ali has no idea how to drive a stick shift.

But her ex-boyfriend, Nico, does.

The road trip gets off to a horrible start, filled with unexpected detours, roadblocks, and all the uncomfortable tension that comes with being trapped in a car with your ex. But when Nico starts collecting items from the quirky strangers they meet along the way, Ali starts to sense that these objects aren’t random. Somehow they seem to be leading her to an unknown truth about her father. A truth that will finally prove to Ali that some things—even broken things—are worth saving.

Being America’s favorite heiress is a dirty job, but someone’s gotta do it.

Lexington Larrabee has never to work a day in her life. After all, she’s the heiress to the multi-billion-dollar Larrabee Media empire. And heiresses are not supposed to work. But then again, they’re not supposed to crash brand new Mercedes convertibles into convenience stores on Sunset Blvd either.

Which is why, on Lexi’s eighteen birthday, her ever-absent, tycoon father decides to take a more proactive approach to her wayward life. Every week for the next year, she will have to take on a different low-wage job if she ever wants to receive her beloved trust fund. But if there’s anything worse than working as a maid, a dishwasher, and a fast-food restaurant employee, it’s dealing with Luke, the arrogant, albeit moderately attractive, college intern her father has assigned to keep tabs on her.

In a hilarious “comedy of heiress” about family, forgiveness, good intentions, and best of all, second chances, Lexi learns that love can be unconditional, money can be immaterial, and, regardless of age, everyone needs a little saving. And although she might have 52 reasons to hate her father, she only needs one reason to love him.

The Rating:

My Review:

I've said this before, I'm so into Jessica Brody's writing. It's so easy to follow and all her characters are so well written.

Anyways... I loved this book. Well -not completely because I wish there was more action to it. In the sense that for a story about a rich heiress that has to get 52 jobs there wasn't a lot about her doing all 52 jobs in the way you'd expect. Which now that I'm thinking about it. It's better there wasn't so scratch that  I like that it didn't go into too much detail about the jobs.

The romance in this was between Lexi and her fathers inter, Luke. And I totally approved of this relationship from the moment they met. Yeah, Luke was basically trying to impress Lexi's dad the whole time but he also wanted her to follow through with her side of the agreement. Do all 52 jobs and learn from it. And yes, from the start they did have a hate-to-love thing going on but it was so well done I didn't hate it myself.

Young Adult Contemporary Romance | Valentine's Day 2018

Happy Valentine's Day!

A long time ago I did something like this where I mentioned books that I hadn't read and it didn't make that much sense. So I'm trying this again. This time with some books I've read. I'm also going to divide them by different categories.

I loved this book so much. With references to Saga, Doctor Who, and DC and Marvel comics. And I gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

Love & Gelato  by Jenna Evans Welch

Lina is sent to live with a man who may or may not be her father and she had just learned this fact.

With things like gelato, Italy, pastries and cute boys, what's not to like. I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.

How to Keep a Boy from Kissing You by Tara Eglington

Aurora has a secret, she's never been kissed and doesn't want to be unless the right guy comes into her life. But until then she enjoys matchmaking her friends with guys she thinks they would match up with perfectly.

After reading the entire book in one day (minus the first 36 pages which I had read months ago) I can honestly say that this is an awesome book with awesome characters and a great plot. I actually cried reading the last 100 pages. That's how good it is. Totally recommend and gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

Monthly BookHaul | June 2017

June had been a big bookish month since I made my first order from BookOutlet so there will be a lot of books on this list. Also, I rarely do these posts since I barely get one or two books a month so this will be fun.
I also did a youtube video unboxing the books I got. So I will include a link to that.

I managed to get a few books that I had already read and enjoyed which was amazing. I got and read the following.
A Study in Charlotte (which I reviewed)
The Only Thing Worse Than Me is You (which I reviewed and had participated in a blog tour last year)
Flipped (which I also reviewed)

Apart from that the rest of the books here are books that interested me, books that I had heard about, and books that I had asked if I could borrow them from my friend but never got past the 20 page line and returned them and now I have my ow copy of them. So you can pretty much say I did good on this haul.
