Katerina inherits a scented, wooden spice box after her grandmother Mariam dies. It contains letters and a diary, written in Armenian. As she pieces together her family story, Katerina learns that Mariam's childhood was shattered by the Armenian tragedy of 1915.

Mariam was exiled from her home in Turkey and separated from her beloved brother, Gabriel, her life marred by grief and the loss of her first love. Dissatisfied and restless, Katerina tries to find resolution in her own life as she completes Mariam's story – on a journey that takes her across Cyprus and then half a world away to New York.

Miracles, it seems, can happen – for those trapped by the past, and for Katerina herself.

My Review:
The Spice Box Letters was a book that got sent to me by the publishers YEARS ago and I never picked it up which always made me feel bad because deep down I thought I wouldn't like it but here I am totally kicking myself for not having read it earlier. Cause damn. It's so not what thought it would be. Every page was heart wrenching and sad and I totally wanted Katarina and her family to find each other and see that they weren't alone in all of what they went through cause they went through so much.

I think this is one of the first Historical Fiction that I actually really liked.

This book isn't scary or anything but the way the author wrote about these characters terrifying stories was so that my heart was racing during certain scenes. And my heart hurt for the suffering of Katrina's grandmother and her brother.
This was such a beautiful story about sacrifice, and family.

I am happy that I finally got to it. And I just so happen to have read it on a rainy day too.

Ellery Hathaway knows a thing or two about serial killers, but not through her police training. She's an officer in sleepy Woodbury, MA, where a bicycle theft still makes the newspapers. No one there knows she was once victim number seventeen in the grisly story of serial killer Francis Michael Coben. The only victim who lived.

When three people disappear from her town in three years, all around her birthday—the day she was kidnapped so long ago—Ellery fears someone knows her secret. Someone very dangerous. Her superiors dismiss her concerns, but Ellery knows the vanishing season is coming and anyone could be next. She contacts the one man she knows will believe her: the FBI agent who saved her from a killer’s closet all those years ago.

Agent Reed Markham made his name and fame on the back of the Coben case, but his fortunes have since turned. His marriage is in shambles, his bosses think he's washed up, and worst of all, he blew a major investigation. When Ellery calls him, he can’t help but wonder: sure, he rescued her, but was she ever truly saved? His greatest triumph is Ellery’s waking nightmare, and now both of them are about to be sucked into the past, back to the case that made them...with a killer who can't let go.

My Review:

The Vanishing Season is just wow.

The Vanishing Season was is such an excellent read. I took it with me to a dentist appointment. And while I waited for it to be my turn I opened this gem and tried to finish it since I had already read a little less than half of it. And I was so embarrassed because it kept me on edge the whole time. I couldn't put it down for a second. I was worried that if I looked up from the book someone would be staring at me wondering what that crazy lady was doing with all her on edge hand movements. Like I kept gripping my knees and murmuring my disdain for a certain cop. I was all over the place. And I hadn't had that kind of experience with a book since I read The Prettiest One and The Body Reader.

It's well written. The writing style flowed so well chapter after chapter. I liked it so much as I wouldn't say no to another book by the author.

Ellery and Reed's interactions with each other were great. They just worked well together. With how they connected the dots and rounded up any evidence that could help them with their case. The evidence leads them to many suspects. That any of them could be the suspect and at the same time, it seemed like it was none of them.

There isn't an ounce of romance. None at all. Though with Ellery and Reed I would not have hated it if there was something more between them.

The mystery and suspense were SO good. Lots of turns and twists and many strategically placed red herrings. There were some pretty creepy scenes that almost got to me with how gruesome they were. But I'm a girl who listens to Last Podcast on the Left. So I wasn't that faced.

Speaking of wish.
The number of serial killer references did make me think of Last Podcast so many times. Mostly because I knew of them from listening to the podcast.

I feel like Ellery wanted to be a good cop so much. With how she wanted to solve a crime that seemed to be just a disappearance. How frustrated she got when no one saw what she did.
Despite that, it didn't matter that she had been a cop for years because at times she acted and was treated like a rookie.

I would also like to add that this book is the debut of the author. What?!!
So well done.
*round of applause erupts in a dark theater. lights turn on showing a bunch of well dressed beautiful people who keep applauding and smiling brightly*

When your life is a hot mess at twenty, it’s cute. At twenty-seven… well, not so much.

It’s just that my lofty dreams—making it as a real estate agent, paying rent on time, showering daily—have stayed just that: dreams. Oh, and love? I’ve decided love might be a little ambitious for me at the moment. Instead, I’ve settled for the two guys who will never leave me: Ben & Jerry.

That is until Dr. Adam Foxe takes up residence as the town’s new vet.

With his strong jaw, easy confidence, and form-fitting scrubs, it’s not long before every housewife in Hamilton is dragging neglected tomcats in for weekly checkups.

Like everyone else, I’m intrigued. Even after I spoil my chance at a good first impression, he still offers me a proposition I can’t refuse: play his girlfriend at a family function and he’ll hire me as his real estate agent. Welcome to love in the 21st century.

It’s too bad I underestimated Adam’s irresistible charm and the undeniable attraction that burns between us. The day he pins me to the wall and silences me with a kiss, the line between reality and ruse begins to blur. Every teasing touch brings me to my knees. Every kiss promises more.

It looks like my hot mess of a life is about to get a little hotter.

The Rating:

My Review:

I've been holding back on this review because I had very mixed feelings towards this book. But here goes nothing.

The Foxe & The Hound is about a beautiful real estate agent, Madeleine, who crashes into a handsome vet with an attitude, Adam. And of course, there's the one who got them to crash. Too big for his own good, doggo Mouse.

One of the things that gave me problems was Adam. I hated him. I swooned at the beginning but then all of a sudden it turned to dislike. He just did some things that made me look at this book with some serious death stares. I even stopped reading it at the point where I couldn't handle how he acted and how Madeleine reacted anymore. But because I had to give it back I powered through having a curtain on those chapters and how I felt and ended up enjoying it after.

I ended up liking the banter between Adam and Madeleine and how their relationship was finding a smooth rhythm. The steamy scenes were just right. Mouse was an amazing and very important doggo. And in the end, I was shocked with that plot twist.

I can now say that with that ending I now am on board.

Now. If you really want to know what bothered me about this book here it is. But you have been warned since this is a spoiler.

There is one scene, past the first 120 pages, where Adam basically assaults Madeleine. But that's not all, because it happens before he tells her that he's sorry for misleading her into thinking that they were more than just acquaintances or friends. That he isn't looking to date anyone since he got out of a messy relationship just recently. Which is also the reason why he moved to that town in the first place. But that's beside the point.

The point is that he tells her he isn't interested in dating her after she asked him out (taking the courage to ask him out thinking that she has a shot) and then he blocked her only exit to the building they are in and grabs/pins her to the door and assaults her. Now! It doesn't matter that she likes him or that in the end she was "okay" with what he did to her or it turned her on. That doesn't matter. What matters, and what bothers me about Adam, is the fact that he rejects her, grabs onto her wrist to the point where she tells him he is hurting her, ignored her pain, and then plants a kiss on her mouth. And I think that somewhere in that she thinks to herself that he is being forceful towards her but then she goes on to say that she likes it.
And as I'm writing this I notice that it may be me thinking too much into what he did, but then again it was too much happening at once and I freaked out instead of feeling excited for them like I think the writer intended. That's why I didn't like him. I had to make myself forget that that scene had happened in order to keep reading.

He puts the "screw" in screwball comedy...

BRYNN

At thirty-four, I’m reeling from a divorce. I don’t want to party or try to move on. I just want to stay home and post a new recipe on my blog: Brynn’s Dips and Balls.

But my friends aren’t having it. Get out there again, they say. It will be fun, they say. I’m still taking a hard pass.

Free designer cocktails, they say. And that’s a game-changer.

Too bad my ex shows up with his new arm candy. That’s when I lose my mind. But when my besties dare me to leap on the first single man I see, they don't expect me to actually go through with it.

TOM

All I need right now is some peace and quiet while my home renovation TV show is on hiatus. But when a curvy woman in a red wrap dress charges me like she’s a gymnast about to mount my high bar, all I can do is brace myself and catch her. What follows is the hottest experience of my adult life.

I want a repeat, but my flying Cinderella disappears immediately afterward. She doesn’t leave a glass slipper, either—just a pair of panties with chocolate bunnies printed on them.

But I will find her.

The Rating:

My Review:

Man Hands managed to be one of the most fun contemporary romance I've read all year. Not only does it feature a sexy main character that works as a home renovation tv personality but our heroine is a food blogger. Talk about # COUPLEGOALS.

I suffered through 2 swoons and got all teary-eyed on Chapter 36. It was so good in some parts and in others a bit too slow. I totally needed a few more swoon-worthy moments but other than that it was totally great.

Tom was fantastic. I loved that he was a manly man. And that he was in the home renovation business and ha his own tv show. Made me think about DIY or HGTV channels. And Brynn with her food blog and wanting more for herself with her passion for food. I just liked her a ton as a character. Which, with the books I've read, is pretty rare when I like a female lead in a romance novel.

I also loved that the fake engagement. That was fantastically done.
Their sexy meet-cute was too much (in a good way) and that the whole story with Brynn and Tom was bot sexy and cute.
They totally loved each other and the way they acted with each other made me fall for them.

Emotionally powerful and wire-taut, Not Her Daughter raises the question of what it means to be a mother--and how far someone will go to keep a child safe.

The Rating:

My Review:

I only had to read the description of this novel to know that I was gonna like this read. and I was completely on point.

This story is told from different points f views. The kidnapper and the mother.
At the same time, it alternates between before, during and after the kidnapping of five-year-old Emma.

I haven't read any books about missing or kidnapped children so for me this was a whole new theme to experience. It was well-written and easy to follow what was going on during the whole novel. It was such a good read.

I was on the edge on every turn. I wanted to know what would happen to Emma and along the way I found myself rooting for the kidnapper, Sarrah, who was only looking out for what she thought was best for Emma. And in the end, was completely satisfied by it all.

I was totally satisfied by the end of the book. Totally recommend it.

From the New York Times Bestselling authors of Stuck-Up Suit and Mister Moneybags, comes a new, sexy standalone novel.

Dear Bridget,
I'm writing this letter because it's highly doubtful I'll ever garner the courage to say this to your face.
So, here goes.
We're totally wrong for each other. You're the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I'm just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.
But here's the thing... for some bloody reason, I can't stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.
I want you.
The only reason I'm even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don't believe it's one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we're joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.
So, what's the purpose of this note? I guess it's a reminder that we're adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it's to let you know that I'm leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you'd like to visit me in the middle of the night sometime.
No questions asked.
Think about it.
Or don't.
Whatever you choose.
It's doubtful I'll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.
--Simon

The Rating:

My Review:

I couldn't find a single thing I hated about this book. But some things did bother me.

I loved that Simon ( out male love interest/lead) was never a shit to Bridget (our female lead).
It was one of the reasons I loved this book. To me, it's so important that a male love interest/ the guy who gets the girl is not a super jealous or controlling asshole. I just don't think that's romantic.

So when we get Simon, this tall, British, blonde hottie who just so happens to be a doctor. A guy who does get jealous but also trusts his girl fully. A guy who wasn't looking for a real girlfriend or wife or a kid (spoilers!) and ended up easily finding himself finding those things without totally rejecting the idea of a family and love. He was perfect with his quirks and ended up being an amazing male love interest and main character.

I felt that Bridget, a widow, a single mother, and a full-time nurse should have had more. I don't know what but just more. She felt like a boring character compared to Simon, at times. Especially since Simon had such a full character arc. He was one person at the beginning and then grew by the end. I didn't think Bridget grew up when I finished reading the book. I would have wished for more for her.

Still, even though I wanted more from Bridget I loved her. She was an amazing mother who was going through so much with the death of her husband even after years because she felt that she wasn't enough of a parent to be both mom and dad to her son.

Now that I wrote that, I'm reminded that I know eveyone is different but she should have been cofident as a mother. Because she would often say that her son wasn't complete because he didn't have a father and I don't believe in that. Most peole are fully funtioning humans with one parent in their lives or none. Yeah, it's harder growing up but it doesn't mean they aren't whole. I just wish she was more confident in her parenting skills.

The romance between Simon and Bridget was great. we get to see them as strangers havig an interesting and embarazing meet cute, to later on finding out he is the same guy and is moving in to her sare bedroom. Something that bothered me as I read it cause she has a kid. Who doesnt meet the guy who's moving in with her and only sees him when his stuff is already there and he is there in his room.  Still, this isn't a thriller and he wasn't a murderer, or worse. He's great, a little, too forwards but great. Not only was he great with Bridget's son but he ended up being amazing with him.

And can we talk about the scandalous plot twist around the end? How Bridget's dead husband was actually cheating on her because she wanted kids and would only have scheduled sex with her. What an ass. Then he has an American Gods death scene (watch American Gods if you are curious). Death by blowjob from the mistress.

What!!
Love it tho. Mostly cause it reminded me of that. And the nerve of the mistress trying to take Simon too. Seriously!

*rolls eyes and flashes her my well manicured middle finger as I drive off in my convertible, big sunglasses on*

In total, I am happy with this book and would totally recommend it. And I would so read it again, not anytime soon but after a couple of months when I have forgotten what has happened.

You can also tell how much I liked this book from how long the review is. Sometimes I just don't know what to say but for some reason, this review is good and long. Figures.

When romance novelist Kate Smith suddenly gets writer's block as she's beginning the final installment of her international bestselling erotic Bed 'n Breakfast series, she'll do pretty much anything to get her groove back.
Like sneak into a Tire Depot waiting room because her words flow there just like complimentary coffee-smooth, sweet, and scorchingly hot.
She manages to fly under the radar until the rugged and charming mechanic, Miles Hudson, notices the quirky redhead slinking in and out of the employees only entrance.
But she's way too intriguing to blow the whistle on.
Doing a test-drive of her new book idea sounds like a much better option.

The Rating:

My Review:

Wait With Me was so good.  Not great but good.

I loved the main character in this book, Kate. She is a writer having some trouble getting inspiration. Wheather it was because of the little fact that she still lived with her ex and he's not the best guy ever to her, or that she just isn't getting inspired. At the same time her car breaks down (I actually don't remember if that's what happened) and she meets the waiting room and finds inspiration at Tire Depot. (was it a tire store??)

Then she finds ways of constantly going there without being found out just to use that room and write her novel and that's how she meets Miles. Miles is one of the mechanics there. And the two instantly connect.

I don't like Miles 100%. It's more like 25%. Maybe more, maybe less.  His character and personality just didn't seem right to me. He was too controlling and jealous for my taste.

*shrugs and mouths idk*

Besides Miles, there were also other parts that I didn't like. For me, at times it just sounded a bit boring and at others, it felt like too much was happening.
😕

The Rating:

My Review:

I won this book in a Goodreads giveaway.

This is also one of the books I managed to read all in one day. And I loved the story. It just has the right mix of drama, romance, fantasy and steamy sex scenes. But despite this being the first book of this kind that I've read, I didn't mind it at all. It was beyond what I thought it would be like. Yes, there was a few clichés; insta-love, easy resolutions, etc... But I didn't mind that. In fact, I finished the book wanting there to be a sequel. And there is.

As for what I thought about, in regards to the character. Luciana our heroine wasn't always in distress, and she managed to not act like a baby for most of the book like I thought a character in this kind of book would act like. So I didn't hate her. Is she my favorite? No. But maybe her ghost/twin sister, Tatiana is. Not only did she help spy for her sister, but she had sass. And just the perfect amount.

There's also the world. The map at the beginning which is cool. Elves, dragons, curses, shapeshifters, and royalty along with magic and our male lead is a cursed weather controller who just so happens to be hot. What's not to love about all of that.

"We'll be sisters 'til we die…"

Margot Blythe is a professional sorority girl. As a Sisterhood Mentor for her beloved Delta Beta, she travels to colleges around the country, advising on serious sorority issues (and picking up all the gossip along the way). Margot is thrilled when she's invited back to her alma mater to assist the Delta Betas—but tragedy strikes when their chapter advisor drops dead during a meeting, sending shockwaves down sorority row.

Shaken by the death—especially when foul play is suspected—Margot has to step up. Appointed the honor of serving as temporary chapter advisor, she now must manage the drama of fifty frazzled sorority women with secrets to hide; protect the house from the annual fraternity pledge pranks, which are more ominous than they seem; and worst of all, combat the ruinous rumors surfacing about a Delta Beta phone sex ring. If she wants to keep rival sororities and a suspicious (but dangerously cute) local policeman from bringing Delta Beta's reputation down, it's up to Margot to find out the truth—about whether a sister could have committed such an unimaginable sin as murder.

A sassy debut for fans of Susan McBride and Meg Cabot.

The Rating:

My Review:

I was disappointed by this book. I was expecting humor and drama. But I got a lot of terms I didn't understand, and I found myself forgetting what was happening with the murdering.

But there were good parts. Like the police officer, Ty. He was the only character I actually tolerated. Don't get me wrong I liked Margo. She was so dedicated and strong. Margot's a lot like Nancy Drew in this book. She wanted to keep her girls safe and solve the case fast. Get it over with so everyone can breath and feel safe again. Which I totally admire, but something about her made it hard for me to understand her. At times she acted immature, and that probably is what makes me feel a little annoyed by her.

In regards to the murder. I actually didn't get what was going on. I remember that a girl was found dead and that mid book another one died. Heck. I don't even know if that's true. Which doesn't bode well for the story. I did not expect who it was that was doing all of that though. I just didn't picture that person to be the one doing all those things because they just didn't seem like they'd get their hands dirty.
