Top Ten Tuesday #7 | Best Reads of 2018 (So Far!)

.

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

July 10
Best Reads of 2018 (So Far!)

I wanted to do something like this on Instagram and on here as an official post but since most of the boos I read are either books I got through Netgalley or books I borrowed from my friends but had to give them back I couldn't take a good photo with all of the books together. But I'm glad I could do it in this Top Ten format so -yay!
This time it ended up being a Top Eleven Tuesday.

I finally got my hands on and read The Ghost and the Goth which I've wanted to read since 2015. And I wasn't disappointed. And Killer Instinct was crazy good.

I finally read books by Becky Albertalli and I was glad I did. These two did not fail me at all.

Killer Instinct by S.E. Green | Book Review #88

The Bookish Island's Book Review:

Killer Instinct by S.E. Green

Are there spoilers?
I don't really think so.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is one of the books I read after the passing of Hurricane Maria here in Puerto Rico. With no water, electricity or internet I took to reading my books.

I decided to not do this for the books I've read on 2018. But it has been 4 months since Hurricane Maria. And I'm happy to announce that now we have water, and electricity.

Title - Killer Instinct
By - S.E. Green
Publication - May 19th 2015 by Simon Pulse
Copy -  Paperback, 288 pages

Genre - Young Adult, Cotemporary, Mystery, Horror

Lane is a typical teenager. Loving family. Good grades. After-school job at the local animal hospital. Martial arts enthusiast. But her secret obsession is studying serial killers. She understands them, knows what makes them tick.

Why?

Because she might be one herself.

Lane channels her dark impulses by hunting criminals and delivering justice when the law fails. The vigilantism stops shy of murder, but with each visceral rush, the line of self-control blurs. And when a young preschool teacher goes missing—and returns in pieces—Lane gets a little too excited about tracking down “the Decapitator,” the vicious serial murderer who has come to her hometown.

As she gets dangerously caught up in a web of lies about her own past, Lane realizes she is no longer invisible or safe. Especially after the Decapitator contacts her directly. Now she needs to use her unique talents to find the true killer’s identity before she—or someone she loves—becomes the next victim…

My Review:

Started this book on January 7, 2018.
I finished reading this book on January 18, 2018.

It was the cover that first attracted me to this book. With the sealed doll hand on the cover it looked creepy. Then a lot of people were saying it was like Dexter. A series which I don't like but I was on board to reading a creepy YA thriller.
Plus, at the time I was listening to And That's Why We Drink and My Favorite Murder podcasts. So I was in the mood for this book 100%.

It's the story of a teenager who something is wrong with her. She doesn't have normal emotions like the people around her and she's interested in studying murderers. And she takes it upon herself to take them out whenever she can.

I read this book in a week or so and enjoyed every page. And I would like to say that I knew from page one who the serial killer was. I kind of want to show off too because my instincts are still on point.
