No Romance But Cute Stories | Valentine's Day 2018

Happy Valentine's Day!

A long time ago I did something like this where I mentioned books that I hadn't read and it didn't make that much sense. So I'm trying this again. This time with some books I've read. I'm also going to divide them into different categories.

Stevie parents just died leaving her an orphan with a ranch. She thinks she's alone, but then finds out her mother's father, her grandfather, is going to take her as her guardian. She is sent to live at a motel he owns and runs. There she will find friends, the family she didn't even know existed, and a crush.

Tuesday McGillycuddy and her beloved dog, Baxterr, learn that Tuesday's mom, the famous author Serendipity Smith, disappeared. They go out to find her. the famous author Serendipity Smith

A young girl sets out to find out exactly what happened to her sister. Since she doesn't want to play, hang out, or listen to her. She's like a whole other person, or is she just growing up.

Juli fell in love with Bryce at first sight. She flipped. Bryce didn't fell the same. He didn't like her in the slightest, till he flipped too.

Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen | Book Review

Book Review:
Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen

Title - Flipped

Author - Wendelin Van Draanen

Format - Paperback, 212 pages

Published - May 13th, 2003 by Knopf

Genre - Middle Grade, Young Adult, Romance, Contemporary, Realistic Fiction

Goodreads

Flipped is a romance told in two voices. The first time Juli Baker saw Bryce Loski, she flipped. The first time Bryce saw Juli, he ran. That’s pretty much the pattern for these two neighbors until the eighth grade, when, just as Juli is realizing Bryce isn’t as wonderful as she thought, Bryce, is starting to see that Juli is pretty amazing. How these two teens manage to see beyond the surface of things and come together makes for a comic and poignant romance.

My Rating:

My Review:
I was first introduced to this story because of the movie. I adored it. It was so cute and even made me cry in some parts. I actually watched it twice that's how good it was. So when I found out it was a book first I just had to see if I would like it too. I did like the book as well.

It was almost identical to the movie actually. Except for some parts but otherwise, it was the same.

I loved the characters. Juli was so cute and she really did love Bryce. But I did like how Bryce saw Juli in the end. It was so sweet. I did hate Bryce's dad. He was so ignorant and thought he was so special so when a family like Juli's is introduced to him he thought they were so awful and dirty when they were just trying to live a happy and healthy life as much as they could with what they got. I also loved Bryce's grandfather. He was so wise and gently to Juli, it was something I had never experienced and it made me a little jealous.

I loved how the story was told from Juli and Bryce's different perspectives and how it showed their growth in both age and affection towards one another. It was brilliant.

If I had a copy for myself I would definitely re-read it every year if I could. And re-watch the movie too.
