SHUG is clever and brave and true (on the inside, anyway). And she's about to become your new best friend.
Annemarie Wilcox, or Shug as her family calls her, is beginning to think there's nothing worse than being twelve. She's too tall, too freckled, and way too flat-chested. Shug is sure that there's not one good or amazing thing about her. And now she has to start junior high, where the friends she counts most dear aren't acting so dear anymore -- especially Mark, the boy she's known her whole life through. Life is growing up all around her, and all Shug wants is for things to be like they used to be. How is a person supposed to prepare for what happens tomorrow when there's just no figuring out today?

My Review:

This story had everything. From problems at home to boy problems to school problems.
And right in the middle was Annemarie. A 12-year-old who had just begun junior high. She came across puberty, and first crushes, and the knowledge that her parents might not be as close as they once were. And with her big sister not being around as much, and her two close friends both having their own stuff to deal with, she gets to go through most of that on her own.

Annemarie was brilliant in every way. Smart, sassy, and didn't let the boys mess with her. Which only made me wish I had a friend like her when I was that age.

I cried. Like I cried, cried. It wasn't pretty either. But I also fell in love with this book.

It was such a sweet and easy to read book that was a perfect in-between to read after having been reading a few strong Mystery/Thrillers. I loved that it was a quick read and that it had such a good story. Making me think about another book that made me feel that way. Flipped. And like Flipped, This has to be a movie. Because that would be so cooooool!

Also, this book and Flipped should totally be BFFs.

I wanted to do something like this on Instagram and on here as an official post but since most of the boos I read are either books I got through Netgalley or books I borrowed from my friends but had to give them back I couldn't take a good photo with all of the books together. But I'm glad I could do it in this Top Ten format so -yay!

I finally got my hands on and read The Ghost and the Goth which I've wanted to read since 2015. And I wasn't disappointed. And Killer Instinct was crazy good.

I finally read books by Becky Albertalli and I was glad I did. These two did not fail me at all.

The Only Thing Worse Than Me Is You by Lily Anderson

I'd like to say that If you like Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell then you'll love this book too. Its a lot nerdier and a lot more adorable.

It's also an adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing.

I loved this book so much. With references to Saga, Doctor Who, and DC and Marvel comics. And I gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

One day Lara Jean Song finds out that all of her in-sent love letters have been sent without her permission and now all her crushes know how she felt about them.

I read this book a while back but still keep the same thought. That I loved every chapter I read. I gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

Love & Gelato by Jenna Evans Welch

Lina is sent to live with a man who may or may not be her father and she had just learned this fact.

With things like gelato, Italy, pastries and cute boys, what's not to like. I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.

No Love Allowed by Kate Evangelista

They must not fall in love. That's rule number one for Caleb and Didi. Because Caleb needs a fake girlfriend and Didi just got fired The day they both met.

This book got 4 out of 5 stars from me.

Love Fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius

In a town where love is real will the unfortunate in love Fallon figure out how to change her fortune. Yes she will.

I loved this book so much that I really want to continue the series and read the second book, Love Charms and Other Catastrophes. Wait! I did that.

How to Keep a Boy from Kissing You by Tara Eglington

Aurora has a secret, she's never been kissed and doesn't want to be unless the right guy comes into her life. But until then she enjoys matchmaking her friends with guys she thinks they would match up with perfectly.

After reading the entire book in one day (minus the first 36 pages which I had read months ago) I can honestly say that this is an awesome book with awesome characters and a great plot. I actually cried reading the last 100 pages. That's how good it is. Totally recommend and gave it 5 out of 5 stars.

A Week of Mondays by Jessica Brody

Lara Jean keeps her love letters in a hatbox her mother gave her.

They aren't love letters that anyone else wrote for her, these are ones she's written. One for every boy she's ever loved—five in all. When she writes, she can pour out her heart and soul and say all the things she would never say in real life, because her letters are for her eyes only. Until the day her secret letters are mailed, and suddenly Lara Jean's love life goes from imaginary to out of control.

The Cover:

Although they say never judge a book by it's cover I believe the cover should represent what the book is going to be like or at least some aspect of it.

This book cover is so awesome. There’s the main character, Lara Jean, on her bed with a disco ball in one corner, a white background, and the really cool script font in something that looks like sharpie.

The Story:
It's a story about a teenage girl, Lara Jean, whose big sister, Margot, goes off for some studies (???) and gets to be in charge. While she has to take care of her little sister, and help her father around the house her hat box filled with love letters she has written for certain boys in her life goes missing.
They start appearing and chaos. But with the help of one of the boys she wrote a letter too she manages to sift things around.

Relationships:
There were more than one couples, and relationships in this book but I will only talk about one of them.

Lara Jean x Peter
Even if their story was a “let pretend to be together” story, I liked them as a couple. And as things progressed they changed as well. I like that.

Family Dynamics:
As for Lara Jean’s family.
They were really together and supportive. The father was there, and he cared, and despite losing his wife early on he didn’t quit his family like most stories I’ve read, or heard about in real life. He didn’t give them up, he took care of them.
I also liked that they mentioned the mother as being caring, and the energy of the house.
The sisters are adorable. They stick together no matter what. My favorite was Kitty. She is so adorable.

Settings:
As for my favorite settings in this story I’d have to say that I liked their home most of all. Partly because it's the place I most remember, but also because it felt warm whenever the parts I was reading were on the home.
If that makes any sense?

Overall:
I really wish I had written this review when I finished reading the book, but sadly I did not. So I don’t remember much of the things I wanted to say here.

I was a bit adamant about reading this book since it is a series, but when my friend offered it to me, after reading it, I had to give it a shot. I was quickly glad I did because I loved it. I loved the Song girls, the boys, and the entire story was just perfect. I actually remember screaming at the end because I wanted more. So you could say I will definitely read the second book in the series, if I can get my hands on it.

Stacking The Shelves - 6

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga's Reviews where bloggers share what books they got throughout the week!

This week and the one before I decided to take off of blogging and other things to concentrate on my last two weeks of my first semester of my bachelors in college. Which was successful btw. 😄😄 But I did manage to read a few books and get two.

As For Update:

I read To All The Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han and loved it. I cant wait to get my hands on the second book in the series.
I also finished reading This is My Brain on Boys by Sarah Strohmeyer last week as well and even if it was all big words and confusing plots I actually liked it a lot.

I stated reading No Love Allowed by Kate Evangelista and its getting interesting but I don't know if I like it yet.

This week I got in the mail two beautiful books.

Lately I've been getting into journaling and it helped me out a lot during my semester. It helped me be more organized and in control. So for next year I'm going to get prepared. I bought more stickers and tape. I also bought a set of 10 or so notebooks for when I'm traveling or stuff.

I got inspired by this girl who does the most awesome journal entries.
