Top Ten Tuesday #7 | Best Reads of 2018 (So Far!)

I wanted to do something like this on Instagram and on here as an official post but since most of the boos I read are either books I got through Netgalley or books I borrowed from my friends but had to give them back I couldn't take a good photo with all of the books together. But I'm glad I could do it in this Top Ten format so -yay!

I finally got my hands on and read The Ghost and the Goth which I've wanted to read since 2015. And I wasn't disappointed. And Killer Instinct was crazy good.

I finally read books by Becky Albertalli and I was glad I did. These two did not fail me at all.

This is one of the books I read after the passing of Hurricane Maria here in Puerto Rico. With no water, electricity or internet I took to reading my books.

I decided to not do this for the books I've read on 2018. But it has been 6 months since Hurricane Maria. And I'm happy to announce that now we have water, and electricity.

My Review:

I started reading on March 27, 2018 and finished this book on March 30, 2018.

For me its much easier to divide reviews in parts. I don't know if it has anything to do with my English or that it just looks cleaner and aesthetically pleasing. Like the way I used to do it last year. But I stopped doing it that way to easily write a quick review and post it. So I'm going to go back to the 2017 version but much smaller. Using 4 questions.

Who is it by?
The Ghost and The Goth is by the author, Stacey Kade.
I have never read a book by her before so I didn't know if I would like her books or her writing before I read this book.
Now. I think I like her books. At least The Ghost and The Goth. Anyway.

What is it about?
Its about the popular girl, Alona Dare, who has just died. She is lost and doesn't know what's going on till she sees Will Killian laugh at her when everyone else cant see her and she decides to confront him and figure out what is happening with her.
But its also about the goth, Will Killian, who can see and communicate with ghosts. But has decided to ignore them like his father used to. But that hasn't helped him in the slightest. Because his mom thinks he is mentally ill and his psychologist wants to send him to a hospital permanently. Also the principal hates him and thinks he is faking it.

Why did I read it?
This is one of the first books I added to my tbr list on Goodreads. So I've wanted to read this book for years. And by pure luck Book Outlet finally had it for sale so I quickly purchased it.
I think it was both the cover and the whole "popular girl dies and becomes a ghost and non to popular guy just so happens to be able to communicate with ghosts and they join forces" thing that got me.

Did I like it?

I loved it. I did.
But.
There were a lot of parts that didn't get addressed later on in the book or didn't get their resolution. I hope this makes sense. But to me parts like: her dads situation, how her mom sobered up, and what happened to Lily after. All these things didn't get talked about in the end. And it made me confused because I wanted to know. I also think the author could have added more about the doctor because what he was doing was wrong.
And I know this is the first book in a trilogy and that all these things are probably going to be talked about in the second and third books but I feel it should have had more in the first. Since it is first impression on the whole series.

I did love it though. Alona and Will's relation ship was perfect. It didn't happen quickly. It was slow and sweet and they totally helped each other out in their own way. And I love how they help each other to better themselves and it wasn't all one sided. Like one of them would make the other change. I never felt it was like that and I like that in a relationship in books.
