Updated: July 4, 2017

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases.

Here is another Waiting on Wednesday for the book Finding Perfect by Elly Swartz

This is a story about a girl who mom is working far away and to get her back, to get her attention, she signs up to be in a poetry contest and she starts to develop OCD along the way.

Finding Perfect by Elly Swartz

To Molly Nathans, perfect is:

• The number four
• The tip of a newly sharpened number two pencil
• A crisp, white pad of paper
• Her neatly aligned glass animal figurines

What’s not perfect is Molly’s mother leaving the family to take a faraway job with the promise to return in one year. Molly knows that promises are often broken, so she hatches a plan to bring her mother home: Win the Lakeville Middle School Slam Poetry Contest. The winner is honored at a fancy banquet with table cloths. Molly’s sure her mother would never miss that. Right…?

But as time goes on, writing and reciting slam poetry become harder. Actually, everything becomes harder as new habits appear, and counting, cleaning, and organizing are not enough to keep Molly’s world from spinning out of control.

Midnight in St Petersburg by Venora Bennett

I have been reading this book for too long and just couldn't make myself read more of it faster till now.

Title - Midnight in St Petersburg
Author - Venora Bennett
Publication - January 19th 2016 by Thomas Dunne Books Format - ARC, 384 pages Genre - Russian, Historical Fiction, Romance, Adult

St. Petersburg, 1911: Inna Feldman has fled the pogroms of the south to take refuge with distant relatives in Russia's capital city. Welcomed by the flamboyant Leman family, she is apprenticed into their violin-making workshop. She feels instantly at home in their bohemian circle, but revolution is in the air, and as society begins to fracture, she is forced to choose between her heart and her head. She loves her brooding cousin, Yasha, but he is wild, destructive and devoted to revolution; Horace Wallick, an Englishman who makes precious Faberge creations, is older and promises security and respectability. And, like many others, she is drawn to the mysterious, charismatic figure beginning to make a name for himself in the city: Rasputin. As the rebellion descends into anarchy and bloodshed, a commission to repair a priceless Stradivarius violin offers Inna a means of escape. But which man will she choose to take with her? And is it already too late? A magical and passionate story steeped in history and intrigue, Midnight in St. Petersburg is an extraordinary novel of music, politics, and the toll that revolution exacts on the human heart.

My Review:
I've had this book for months now and since I've been reading a few pages at a time. Till around a few months back I hit a wall and wasn't reading much of anything. Today I finished reading it and I can now understand why it was that it took me so long. I didn't like it.
I just couldn't relate to any of the characters and yeah I know it was a different time but that doesn't justify the thoughts I have on the characters. I didn't like any of them.

Fancast | Mortal Enchantment Series by Stacey O'Neale

It was so much fun making this that I hope you like it.
Here is who I think would play the characters of one of my favorite series the Mortal Enchantment series by Stacey O'Neale.

First here's the original aesthetic photo I posted up on tumblr a long time ago.

"I wonder if I can get pizza in Avalon." - Stacey O'Neale, Mortal Enchantment
An awesome quote.

Here is my cast for the book series Mortal Enchantment:

For Kalin Mathews - Crystal Reed

Even though I didn't like most of the things her character in Teen Wolf did I do think shes a kick ass lady so I thought shed make a really awesome Kalin.

For Rowan - Cole Sprouse

I don't know why but I was searching for handsome young actors in pinterest and none of them called out to me and I was having a hard time thinking of who could play Rowan that want Dylan O'Brien. So when I saw that photo of Cole I thought he'd make a good Rowan.

For Marcus - Avan Jogia

I couldn't think of anyone else but him to play Marcus. He'd be perfect, I have nothing else to say. Let's move to the next one.

For Ariel - Elle Dakota Fanning

So I had said that I would prefer not to repeat actors from the other casts I've created but here she is again. Elle would be perfect for Ariel. She's exactly who I thought of when I was reading the books. And since in the Landline cast it was her when she was a kid it isn't cheating.

If you agree with me or have other choices then let's discuss.

Things mentioned in this post are:
+ original Tumblr post

Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen | Book Review

Book Review:
Flipped by Wendelin Van Draanen

Title - Flipped

Author - Wendelin Van Draanen

Format - Paperback, 212 pages

Published - May 13th, 2003 by Knopf

Genre - Middle Grade, Young Adult, Romance, Contemporary, Realistic Fiction

Goodreads

Flipped is a romance told in two voices. The first time Juli Baker saw Bryce Loski, she flipped. The first time Bryce saw Juli, he ran. That’s pretty much the pattern for these two neighbors until the eighth grade, when, just as Juli is realizing Bryce isn’t as wonderful as she thought, Bryce, is starting to see that Juli is pretty amazing. How these two teens manage to see beyond the surface of things and come together makes for a comic and poignant romance.

My Rating:

My Review:
I was first introduced to this story because of the movie. I adored it. It was so cute and even made me cry in some parts. I actually watched it twice that's how good it was. So when I found out it was a book first I just had to see if I would like it too. I did like the book as well.

It was almost identical to the movie actually. Except for some parts but otherwise, it was the same.

I loved the characters. Juli was so cute and she really did love Bryce. But I did like how Bryce saw Juli in the end. It was so sweet. I did hate Bryce's dad. He was so ignorant and thought he was so special so when a family like Juli's is introduced to him he thought they were so awful and dirty when they were just trying to live a happy and healthy life as much as they could with what they got. I also loved Bryce's grandfather. He was so wise and gently to Juli, it was something I had never experienced and it made me a little jealous.

I loved how the story was told from Juli and Bryce's different perspectives and how it showed their growth in both age and affection towards one another. It was brilliant.

If I had a copy for myself I would definitely re-read it every year if I could. And re-watch the movie too.
