Run by Kody Keplinger

Bo Dickinson is a girl with a wild reputation, a deadbeat dad, and a mama who's not exactly sober most of the time. Everyone in town knows the Dickinsons are a bad lot, but Bo doesn't care what anyone thinks.

Agnes Atwood has never gone on a date, never even stayed out past ten, and never broken any of her parents' overbearing rules. Rules that are meant to protect their legally blind daughter -- protect her from what, Agnes isn't quite sure.

Despite everything, Bo and Agnes become best friends. And it's the sort of friendship that runs truer and deeper than anything else.

So when Bo shows up in the middle of the night, with police sirens wailing in the distance, desperate to get out of town, Agnes doesn't hesitate to take off with her. But running away and not getting caught will require stealing a car, tracking down Bo's dad, staying ahead of the authorities, and -- worst of all -- confronting some ugly secrets.

The Hidden Twin by Adi Rule | Book Review

.

Book Review:
The Hidden Twin by Adi Rule

Today was such a sunny day that I had to take that chance to read. Of course.
And I was just a couple of pages away from finishing this book so why not.

Spoilers?
YES!
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Title - The Hidden Twin
Author - Adi Rule Publication - March 22nd, 2016 by St. Martin's Griffin
Format - Hardcover, 272 pages
Genre - Young Adult, Fantasy, Gothic
Source - given to me by St. Martin's Griffin in exchange for an honest review Rating - ★★★

For eighteen years a girl with no name, a Redwing, has been hidden away in a small attic room within a city of hissing pipes and curving temples perched on the side of the great volcano, Mol, while her sister, Jey-identical except for her eyes-has lived her life in public as an only child. Their father had hoped the hidden girl would one day grow up to be a normal human girl and not the wicked creature mythology has promised, so he secretly spared her life as an infant. But when she switches places with her sister, striking up a flirtation with the son of the Empress while working in the royal gardens and gets attacks by two suspicious priests on her journey home, she is forced to call forth fire to protect herself, unleashing her previously dormant powers and letting her secret out. She soon catches the attention of a cult with a thousand year old grudge as well as a group of underground rebels, both seeking her for their own gain. But when her sister goes missing and the Redwing uncovers a great plot to awaken Mol and bring fiery destruction upon them all, she is forced to embrace her powers.

My Review:

Once I had this book in my hands the first thing that came to mind was the cover. It's gorgeous.

The story for me was really magical. It's a girl who is shy and quiet because she is told by her father not to go out or be seen. That she can't have any friends let alone boyfriends. So she sneaks out when no one is looking until she is seen by some priests and that's when she first us her power. Which is fire/lava? That's when she meets Corvin who risks his life to save her and even if she had the chance t runaway she didn't she went back and saved him from being killed. After that is when things start to change for her and the story develops.

I really liked the main character who doesn't have a name till the end when she owns what she is and doesn't care if shes called by what she is, a Redwing and isn't till a little later that Corvin gives her a name, Lin. She began as a quiet in the shadows girl who then disguised herself as her twin sister and after truly became herself a sarcastic ass-kicking Redwing. Even though she is this supposedly extinct mythical creature that is supposed to be evil and a killing machine she doesn't try to prove herself to anyone or be evil as everyone thinks.

I especially love that romance wasn't really one of the main themes in this book but there still were bits here and there. Like how she totally makes out with the Empress' second son and how Corvin is s obviously into her and wants to protect her all the time. The main theme thou was her. Just her discovering what she really is and not being afraid of it and fighting for her family and her city.

The ending was beautiful how she discovered that what she always had on her back weren't just scars but beautiful wings. Though I kind of predicted she would get wings because she is a Redwing and because she did mention it before, how it was funny that Redwings dint have wings. So yea.

The one thing that bothered me was the fact that they didn't really talk about the fact that she went into the boiling lake and could breathe under it. I wished they explained that more. And the fight at the end was a bit confusing to me too. But maybe that's just me and I think I may read this book again in the future.

Waiting on Wednesday #1 - Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum

Updated: July 4, 2017

Today the air is fresher and the thought of going to the beach has increased. You think that a girl that lives in such a sunny place and so close to the beach would be there all the time but for me, it's not like that. Today is one of those days that I just really want to go and have my toes in the warm sand and breath in the sea but no. Soon I think my mom will cave in and well go. But for now, I decided to start my first Waiting on Wednesday because I have nothing else to do. Plus there are so many good books coming soon.

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases.

Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum

What if the person you need the most is someone you’ve never met?

Everything about Jessie is wrong. At least, that’s what it feels like during her first week of junior year at her new ultra-intimidating prep school in Los Angeles. Just when she’s thinking about hightailing it back to Chicago, she gets an email from a person calling themselves Somebody/Nobody (SN for short), offering to help her navigate the wilds of Wood Valley High School. Is it an elaborate hoax? Or can she rely on SN for some much-needed help?

It’s been barely two years since her mother’s death, and because her father eloped with a woman he met online, Jessie has been forced to move across the country to live with her stepmonster and her pretentious teenage son.

In a leap of faith—or an act of complete desperation—Jessie begins to rely on SN, and SN quickly becomes her lifeline and closest ally. Jessie can’t help wanting to meet SN in person. But are some mysteries better left unsolved?

Fancast | Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman

I've been sick for almost two weeks now though tit definitely felt like forever but today I was a little better. I even went to walmart and that's good since I haven't been out of the house. I'm the type of person that gets sick and I cant do anything but suffer trough it so it was pretty bad so I'm glad that I'm getting better and to show how better I am I did a post so here it is.

This is the third book aesthetics/cast but because the second one being about my beloved the Mortal Enchantment series by Stacey O'Neale was giving me some problems because I couldn't come up with any good actors for the boys Rowan and Marcus but I did find a perfect Kalin so lets see.

For now lets enjoy what I came up with for the book Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman. I'm kind of proud of my selection.

Vengeance Road by Erin Bowman

For this one I did something strange which was mix black and white photos (some that were originally like that and others I edited) and nature photos. Cacti, horses, mountains things like that with photos of actors from back in the day and some who are still with us a photo of the girl on the horse who looked like who I thought Kate was and a photo of an Apache girl who looked a lot like who I thought Liluye looked like.

The one above is the original one I made but then I wanted to make one with all actors/actresses that were modern. Below is that version.

Here is my cast for the book Vengeance Road:

For Kate Thompson/Nate  - Shailene Woodley
I had a hard time putting a face to Kate because in the story ate cuts her hair and disguises herself as a boy Nate. So I kept thinking what actresses would look both good and convincing as a boy and I looked around and thought why not Shailene. Her short hair era would make her a perfect Kate/Nate.

For Jesse Colton - James Dean / Dylan O'Brian

I think I'm not the only one who finds James Dean very attractive but for me its weird because I've never seen any of his movies but I know who he is. So when I think of Jesse I think of James Dean. Specially in that photo because Jesse did exactly that a couple of times in the book. He would lower his hat and look all mysterious so I think James is a perfect Jesse.

My second choice is Dylan O'Brian why I just don't know but ever since I started watching Teen Wolf I've wanted to see those characters doing more things and I would've to see Dylan doing a western for some reason. Also in that photo he's doing the squinting that Jesse does.

For Will Colton - Montgomery Clift / Darren Criss

For Will I was originally thinking Scott Eastwood for what ever reason but when I was looking for the perfect photo that screamed Will I couldn't find a good one but I did find that photo of this actor from the past and he does look like Will. Montgomery Clift was a popular actor from a long time ago besides that I know nothing about him sadly.

I have the same feeling I had with Dylan. I would love to see Daren in a western and plus he just looks like will just add a bit longer hair I think.

For Liluye - Amber Midthunder

I actually had to search native american actresses because I couldn't think of any but when I saw the photo of this girl Amber I thought she would be a perfect Liluye. She looks like she could kick their butts and be a good leader.

For Henry Thomson -  Sam Ellliot / Tim McGraw

Do I need a reason I mean look at the man hes a perfect gold digging explorer/cool western dad.

I love country music and I've seen a couple of the movies Tim has done and I think he would be a great Pa. Even if he gets killed at the beginning.

Fancast | Landline by Rainbow Rowell

In the middle of 2015 I experienced my first Rainbow Rowel book and that was Landline. I was so in love with that book that I decided to do a aesthetic photo of who would I cast if it was up to me and since then it had 200+ notes on tumblr (I posted it on tumblr)

The thing is that I wanted to do that again for other books but since this was the first one I did then I wanted to post it here on my blog.
