The Martian by Andy Weir | Book Review

The Martian by Andy Weir Review

I finally finished this book and I am ready for the movie. I was supposed to finish this a few days ago. Oops!

Author: Andy Weir
Title: The Martian
Publication: August 18th 2015 by Broadway Books
Format: Paperback, 435 pages
Source: I bought it.
Genres: Science Fiction, Adult, Space, Adventure
Rating: ★★★★

Synopsis:
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him & forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded & completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he’s alive—& even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment or plain-old "human error" are much more likely to kill him first. But Mark isn't ready to give up yet. Drawing on his ingenuity, his engineering skills—& a relentless, dogged refusal to quit—he steadfastly confronts one seemingly insurmountable obstacle after the next. Will his resourcefulness be enough to overcome the impossible odds against him?

Thoughts:
It was brilliant!
Such a good story, and great characters. It did have a lot of science stuff I didn't understand (I really don't know how I graduated high school) but at times I had to speed read over much of the science stuff because I couldn't understand even if it was clear and simple. I still really love this book and it deserves the five stars. My favorite thing ever was Mark Watney. His personality was super cool and funny.

PS. not all disco sucks.
PPS. now for the movie. Yippee!
