Update:

I got sick pretty sick this week and a half and am just now feeling better. But I haven't been reading since I was getting headaches. And I didn't want to force myself to read something and end up hating it so I thought it would be better to just rest up.

I am however planning on finishing Kissing Games and maybe Love and Other Words too. These two books at either a quarter, if not half, way finished so it wont take me long. I hope.

Well, actually, to Penelope Marx’s personal museum. The one she creates after coming face to face with the devastating, lonely-making butt-kicking phenomenon known as heartbreak.

Heartbreak comes in all forms: There’s Keats, the charmingly handsome new guy who couldn’t be more perfect for her. There’s possibly the worst person in the world, Cherisse, whose mission in life is to make Penelope miserable. There’s Penelope’s increasingly distant best friend Audrey. And then there’s Penelope’s other best friend, the equal-parts-infuriating-and-yet-somehow-amazing Eph, who has been all kinds of confusing lately.

But sometimes the biggest heartbreak of all is learning to let go of that wondrous time before you ever knew things could be broken.

My Review:

I started reading this not knowing what it was about except what the title suggested. Which means I thought it was about someone going trough heartbreak throughout the story. But it wasn't about that.

Its about a girl named Penelope (Pen) whose best friends Audrey and Eph start to do stuff without her. Audrey with her new friend and mean girl cliché, Cherise. And Eph with whatever new girl he was dating. So Pen starts to panic and feel betrayed. That stops when she meets new guy Keats. Which she immediately crushes on and it doesn't take long before he becomes her boyfriend. But at the same time things become complicated when Eph starts to act different with her. Meaning he starts crushing out in the open for the world to see. And things go from there.

I thought the book was great. I liked the story and most of the characters. But half way trough I thought it was too much. I mean, I knew she didn't actually like the boyfriend from the beginning. He was an a-hole. Who doesn't read 'lady novels', is way too obsessed with Kerouac, and is clearly not over his ex. But because Pen doesn't see that she stays with him for longer than necessary.

I loved Pen's family. Especially her dad. Because he had a passion for his job and dinosaurs.

I generally thought Pen was a great character, but for someone who reads Jane Austen, she was way too naïve about everything. I've never been kissed, not had a boyfriend, but I know when someone isn't worth wasting time crushing on or otherwise. And when someone is.

Also Eph was cool and great boyfriend material, but lets not forget that he never gave Pen an opening. Whenever she saw him he was flirting with one of his girls. And whenever he wanted to be with her something always got in the way.

Why I Can't Wait:
Besides liking YA, I also love Middle Grade books and have a decent sized collection on my shelves at the moment. So when I saw both the cover and the synopsis to this amazing sounding book I quickly added it to my most anticipated Middle Grade books list on Goodreads.

Front Desk by Kelly Yang

This is one of the books I read after the passing of Hurricane Maria here in Puerto Rico. With no water, electricity or internet I took to reading my books. I decided to not do this for the books I've read on 2018. But it has been 7 months since Hurricane Maria. And I'm happy to announce that now we have water, and electricity.

I read this book on November 6. All in one sitting.  Mostly because it was a mystery and I thought I would love it.

My Review:

I was disappointed by this book. I was expecting humor and drama. But I got a lot of terms I didn't understand, and I found myself forgetting what was happening with the murdering.


But there were good parts. Like the police officer, Ty. He was the only character I actually tolerated. Don't get me wrong I liked Margo. She was so dedicated and strong. Margot's a lot like Nancy Drew in this book. She wanted to keep her girls safe and solve the case fast. Get it over with so everyone can breath and feel safe again. Which I totally admire, but something about her made it hard for me to understand her. At times she acted immature, and that probably is what makes me feel a little annoyed by her.


In regards to the murder. I actually didn't get what was going on. I remember that a girl was found dead and that mid book another one died. Heck. I don't even know if that's true. Which doesn't bode well for the story. I did not expect who it was that was doing all of that though. I just didn't picture that person to be the one doing all those things because they just didn't seem like they'd get their hands dirty.

Why I Can't Wait:
That gorgeous cover attracted me to the book at first but it was how interesting the synopsis sounded to me that made me want to read this book. It also feels like Instructions for the End of the World  by Jamie Kain

I'm 10 days late to post my to-be read list for the month of April, but I'm still going to do this.

For the month I want to read more books than I did last month. So more than 3 books. I think I could do that.

Two. I was going to do an assignment based of Hamlet. So I have an obligation to read that book.

The Museum of Heartbreak is one of the books I have been carrying with me in my backpack. Since its short I think I can finish it one go but haven't gotten a moment to do so. Hopefully I can start and finish it soon.

Love and Other Words is a book I won on a Goodreads giveaway. I was glad I got it because I've been seeing it everywhere on my Instagram feed. And they've been saying good things about it so I want to find out for myself if its any good.

The Strangers on The Train sounded so good to me when I got it from Book Outlet months ago. But I still haven't even read a single page from it. Last year I read most of the Thriller / Mystery books I had on my tbr. Because of that I bought a few to keep reading in the genre. So far I've only read one. Killer Instinct.

The Scavengers is a middle grade book that I got just because it had a different sounding premise.

"When the world started to fall apart, the government gave everyone two choices: move into the Bubble Cities…or take their chances outside. Maggie's family chose to live in the world that was left behind. Deciding it's time to grow up and grow tough, Maggie rechristens herself "Ford Falcon"—a name inspired by the beat-up car she finds at a nearby junkyard."

That alone caught my attention. Now I just have to sit down and actually read it.

I haven't done that much reading this wee since My grandmother fell and hurt herself pretty bad. So where taking turns to take care of her which means I have no time to read. But I have been keeping close by some books just in case.
Kissing Games because I won it on a good reads giveaway a few months back. And I had read the first book in the series, How To Keep A Boy From Kissing You. Plus I'm participating in the blog tour for the book.

And Hamlet because I was going to do an assignment on it. So you already know I'm procrastinating and haven't read much from it.
