Book Review:
One Less Problem Without You by Beth Harbison

Spoilers?
Yes.

Title - One Less Problem Without You
Author Beth Harbison

Publication - July 26th, 2016 by St. Martin's Press
Format Hardcover, 336 pages

Genre - Chick Lit

Source - I got it from NetGalley.com in exchange for an honest review. (which I always do) Rating - ★★★

Meet Prinny, Chelsea and Diana. Prinny is the owner of Cosmos, a shop that sells crystals, potions, candles, and hope. It’s also a place where no one turns down a little extra-special cocktail that can work as a romance potion or heal a broken heart. But Prinny is in love with her married lawyer and she’ll need nothing short of magic to forget about him. Chelsea works as a living statue at tourist sites around Washington, DC. It's a thankless job, but it helps pay the rent. That, and her part-time job at Cosmos. As her dream of becoming a successful actress starts to seem more remote and the possibility of being a permanently struggling one seems more realistic, Chelsea begins to wonder: at one point do you give up on your dreams? And will love ever be in the cards for her? Diana Tiesman is married to Leif, a charismatic man who isn’t faithful. But no matter how many times he lets her down, Diana just can't let him go. She knows the only way she can truly breakaway is if she leaves and goes where he will never think to follow. So she ends up at Cosmos with Leif’s stepsister, where she makes her homemade teas and tinctures as she figures out whether she'd rather be lonely alone than lonely in love. In One Less Problem Without You, three women suddenly find themselves together at their own very different crossroads. It will take hope, love, strength and a little bit of magic for them to find their way together.
.

My Review:

This book centers around the life of three women, Diana, Prinny, and Chelsea. and how truly connected they are. And reading the plot of this book I was very interested plus I had read a few pages in If I Could Turn Back Time by the same author.

I adored Prinny Tiesman and how she just wanted to have her shop, Cosmos. Like I would love to go there. It sounded like such a fun place to visit. Though I also liked Diana and Chelsea.
Though what I loved about this book was the ending. The fact that that evil cowardly guy died was the cherry on to of this story.

The thing that I hated was the flashbacks and the mixed point of views of the characters. And how the summary wasn't like the book at all. I hated how Chelsea didn't tell Diana or Prinny what had happened to her and how disgusting Leif was and how I definitely knew that it was him that hurt Chelsea because it was obvious.

I kinda expected more to this story too. I know it was an unfinished version but having had read 100 something pages in one of Beth Harbison's books, the one I mentioned above, I thought it would be more like that a bit less confusing and a bit more interesting. This was almost like a Lifetime movie and I much prefer Hallmark movies. And I don't think I would read it again.

Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman | Book Review

Book Review:
Fortunately, the Milk by Neil Gaiman

I am finally reviewing this book after months since I finished it.

Spoilers?
No.

Title - Fortunately, the Milk
Author Neil Gaiman

Illustrated by: Chris Riddell
Publication - September 17th, 2013 by HarperCollins
Format - Hardcover, 113 pages
Genre - Fantasy, Middle Grade, Humor
Source - borrowed Rating - ★★★

You know what it’s like when your mum goes away on a business trip and Dad’s in charge. She leaves a really, really long list of what he’s got to do. And the most important thing is DON’T FORGET TO GET THE MILK. Unfortunately, Dad forgets. So the next morning, before breakfast, he has to go to the corner shop, and this is the story of why it takes him a very, very long time to get back. Featuring: Professor Steg (a time-travelling dinosaur), some green globby things, the Queen of the Pirates, the famed jewel that is the Eye of Splod, some wumpires, and a perfectly normal but very important carton of milk. The award-laden, bestselling Neil Gaiman, author of The Ocean at the End of the Lane, Stardust, Neverwhere, The Graveyard Book and Coraline, brings his biggest ever publishing year to a spectacular conclusion with this gloriously entertaining novel about time-travel, dinosaurs, milk and dads..

My Review:

This is one of those books that were given to me for a while to read and enjoy and give back, so borrowing. And I did enjoy it about back in October of last year and I didn't write the review because I didn't own it and felt like I couldn't say that I enjoyed having this as a part of my collection and felt sad but since I did love it I will write the review here on my blog.

Once my friend told me they had this book I just couldn't say no to the offer of letting me borrow it. I've been curious about Neil Gaiman's writing style and of his brilliant stories for a while. So when I started reading this book I could tell that I did in fact like his style. The story was so brilliant and adorable in some places. It would have been grand if I had it as a kid, little me would have loved it.
I actually read it with my mother and she thought it was cute too. So 5 stars from me and my mom.

Waiting on Wednesday #10 - The Graces by Lauren Eve

Updated: July 4, 2017

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases.

Here is another Waiting on Wednesday for the book The Graces by Laure Eve

It has a beautiful cover with the yellow/gold and seashells and ribbons and feathers. I like it. Plus, it comes out in my birthday month. It's about witches. What more can I say.

These two covers are incredibly beautiful and eye-catching. But with the new cover, my heart says its the one.
It uses the same shade of purple from the first one. But with a nice red-ish color and what I can tell might be gold. The eye, the stars, and the flower all seem to be descriptors of what can be inside the story too. So it makes it even more interesting.

😍 😍 😍

The Graces by Laure Eve

Everyone loves the Graces.

Fenrin Grace is larger than life, almost mythical. He’s the school Pan, seducing girls without really meaning to. He’s biding his time until someone special comes along. Someone different, who will make him wonder how he got along all this time without her. Someone like me.

Fenrin’s twin, Thalia, is a willowy beauty with rippling, honey-colored hair. Wherever she goes, Thalia leaves behind a band of followers who want to emulate her. She casts spells over everyone she encounters, just like Fenrin—even if they both deny it.

Then there’s Summer. She’s the youngest Grace, and the only one who admits she’s really a witch. Summer is dark on the outside—with jet-black hair and kohl-rimmed eyes—and on the inside. It was inevitable that she’d find me, the new girl—a loner with secrets lurking under the surface.

I am River. I am not a Grace. But I’ll do anything to become one.

The Girl in 6E by AR Torre | Book Review

.
The Girl in 6E by AR Torre Book Review

I wanted to write this review for months now since I did read this a long time ago but I was debating whether to do it or not since I felt that since it wasn't my book but rather borrowed that I couldn't take the photos or really talk about how I was happy to have it in my collection but I caved in. Also, since it ha been a long time my review was a little short.

Spoilers?
No

-----------------------------------------------

Title - The Girl in 6E
Author A.R. Torre
Publication - January 27th, 2015 by Redhook
Format - Paperback, 352 pages
Genre - Thriller, Adult, Erotica, Mystery, Romance
Source - borrowed Rating - ★★★

I haven't touched a human in three years. That seems like it would be a difficult task, but it's not. Not anymore, thanks to the internet. I am, quite possibly, the most popular recluse ever. Not many shut-ins have a 200-member fan club, a bank account in the seven-figure range, and hundreds of men lining up to pay for undivided attention. They get satisfaction, I get a distraction. Their secret desires are nothing compared to why I hide... my lust for blood, my love of death. Taking their money is easy. Keeping all these secrets... one is bound to escape. What if you hid yourself away because all you could think of was killing? And what if one girl's life depending on you venturing into society? Enter a world of lies, thrills, fears, and all desires, in this original thriller from A. R. Torre.

My Review:

Reading The Girl in 6E was definitely an experience. On one side you have Jessica a cam girl who has the whole set out down to at and on the other, you have Deanna Madden the girl who has locked herself in her apartment behind a metal door so she doesn't get the urge to kill everyone. Then you know that they're the same person. Just a girl locked up in her apartment working as a cam girl trying not to get her to urge to kill get the better of her.

I enjoyed it from page one. Getting to see what she sees and feels and also knowing along the way that she can go off at any moment was thrilling. Especially because even with all of that she finds out that one of her "fans" has kidnapped a little girl and she feels that if she herself doesn't do anything it would be too late.

Something that I loved was the romance in this story. It was unexpected and cute.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone who's into thrillers and suspense but I must warn you that because the main character is a cam girl there are some erotica aspects to it so I suggest it only to adults.

Waiting on Wednesday #9 - 100 Days of Cake by Shari Goldhagen

Updated: July 4, 2017

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases.

Here is another Waiting on Wednesday for the book 100 Days of Cake by Shari Goldhagen

With a book about cakes, depression, and anxiety I think it will fit right in with me because as most people in the world I know how that feels and I curious as to what this book really is about.

100 Days of Cake by Shari Goldhagen

Get well soon isn't going to cut it in this quirky and poignant debut novel about a girl, her depression, an aggressive amount of baked goods, and the struggle to simply stay afloat in an unpredictable, bittersweet life.

There are only three things that can get seventeen-year-old Molly Byrne out of bed these days: her job at FishTopia, the promise of endless episodes of Golden Girls, and some delicious lo mien. You see, for the past two years, Molly’s been struggling with something more than your usual teenage angst. Her shrink, Dr. Brooks isn’t helping much, and neither is her mom who is convinced that baking the perfect cake will cure Molly of her depression—as if cake can magically make her rejoin the swim team, get along with her promiscuous sister, or care about the SATs.

Um, no. Never going to happen.

But Molly plays along, stomaching her mother’s failed culinary experiments, because, whatever—as long as it makes someone happy, right? Besides, as far as Molly’s concerned, hanging out with Alex at the rundown exotic fish store makes life tolerable enough. Even if he does ask her out every…single…day. But—sarcastic drum roll, please—nothing can stay the same forever. When Molly finds out FishTopia is turning into a bleak country diner, her whole life seems to fall apart at once. Soon she has to figure out what—if anything—is worth fighting for.

Updated: July 4, 2017

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases.

Here is another Waiting on Wednesday for the book Kingdom of Ash and Briars by Hannah West

Just read that plot and you'll like it too.
I really do like these books on Waiting on Wednesday but I cant seem to say how I feel about them.

Kingdom of Ash and Briars by Hannah West

Bristal, an orphaned kitchen maid, lands in a gritty fairy tale gone wrong when she discovers she is an elicromancer with a knack for shape-shifting. An ancient breed of immortal magic beings, elicromancers have been winnowed down to merely two - now three - after centuries of bloody conflict in the realm. Their gifts are fraught with responsibility, and sixteen-year-old Bristal is torn between two paths. Should she vow to seek the good of the world, to protect and serve mortals? Or should she follow the strength of her power, even if it leads to unknown terrors? She draws on her ability to disguise herself as a man to infiltrate a prince's band of soldiers and masquerades as a fairy godmother to shield a cursed princess, but time is running out. As an army of dark creatures grows closer, Bristal faces a supernatural war. To save the kingdoms, Bristal must find the courage to show her true form.

Building on homages to Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, Jane Austen’s Emma and the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan, Hannah West makes a spectacular debut.

Waiting on Wednesday #7: Devil and the Bluebird by Jennifer Mason-Black

Updated: July 4, 2017

Waiting On Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases.

Here is another Waiting on Wednesday for the book Devil and the Bluebird by Jennifer Mason-Black.

I was searching around Goodreads (as you do) and I found this and reading the description just grabbed my attention and I had to mention it on a Waiting on Wednesday here. This is a book I'd love to read.

Devil and the Bluebird by Jennifer Mason-Black

“Devil-at-the-crossroads” folklore finds its way to YA via this moody, magical tale

Blue Riley has wrestled with her own demons ever since the loss of her mother to cancer. But when she encounters a beautiful devil at her town crossroads, it’s her runaway sister’s soul she fights to save. The devil steals Blue’s voice—inherited from her musically gifted mother—in exchange for a single shot at finding Cass.

Armed with her mother’s guitar, a knapsack of cherished mementos, and a pair of magical boots, Blue journeys west in search of her sister. When the devil changes the terms of their deal, Blue must reevaluate her understanding of good and evil and open herself to finding family in unexpected places.

In Devil and the Bluebird, Jennifer Mason-Black delivers a heart-wrenching depiction of loss and hope.
